Baby Unit

baby unit tea party 006

The Baby Unit is situated within a beautifully designed light and airy building, specifically adapted for babies and young children.

Children are accepted from three months and will stay in the unit until they leave to go to the Barn. There is a main area for children to crawl and explore, with equipment at their height and easily available for them to touch, feel and play. An area is devoted to sleeping , and one to mealtimes. Meals are  a social affair, with all ages enjoying their home cooked food together, just as they would in a family at home. We have a separate kitchen for sterilising bottles and preparing drinks and snacks. The main meals are prepared by two highly experienced cooks in the kitchen, situated within the House. The food is freshly prepared and delicious!

Each area within the Baby Unit provides the appropriate toys and equipment for all children in accordance to their individual age and stage.

  • Children can toddle and crawl, exploring their environment in complete safety.
  • Mirrors and playthings, at their level, within their range.
  • Textures and colours for them to discover.
  • Activities designed for interaction, growth, physical development, linguistics and imagination, play with education….. your child will lead the way.

The children can take part in the activities planned for the day. Staff plan activities to take place inside or outside. This unit will concentrate on the development of early skills. The essential skills of language development and manipulative skills are laid down in these early stages.

We have a beautiful decked outdoor area, dedicated to the babies. In the fine weather, the children can learn outdoors, with the stunning forest school area, on which to look out.

Security

CCTV cameras monitor each room in the baby unit section of the day nursery.  These have been provided to ensure that Parents can, if they wish, monitor their own child for settling in, and to ensure that although children are constantly supervised in all rooms by staff, we have a visual backup on file. Coded locks secure all doors.
